Documentary | Directed by Jennifer Maytorena Taylor | 2020 | USA | English | 91 min.
Stacie Griffin is a mother, wife, and recovering addict, living in the toughest neighborhood of the heroin-battered town of Rutland, Vermont. As her small, blue-collar city struggles to emerge from the opioid epidemic and gets caught up in battles over change and identity, Stacie yearns to improve her own situation and those of her neighbors – including three Syrian families who arrive in town just before the federal government bans refugee resettlement. For the Love of Rutland is a portrait of a politically divided and economically devastated town, a portrait seen repeated all across America, and the glimmer of hope that can help rebuild a community.
“The film puts audiences in an environment that captures perfectly the tensions and ideological rifts of contemporary America.” Pat Mullen
